Research
- A digital wellness program funded by 91³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s Community Impact Grant is being developed to help middle-school girls counteract the negative psychological impacts of social media. Creative Technology and Design graduate student researchers in the program's Social Impact track will work with lead investigator Annie Margaret from the ATLAS Institute to design the program.
- Professor Xiaoyun Ding and his team of researchers aim to improve cancer-fighting tools and cut patient costs, exploring ways to streamline delivery of lifesaving treatments into immune cells.
- Inspired by the natural world, Kaushik Jayaram heads up the Animal Inspired Movement and Robotics Laboratory (AIM-RL) at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø. The group aims to develop robotic devices that benefit and enhance human capabilities in the areas of search and rescue, inspection and maintenance, personal assistance, and environmental monitoring. As an Assistant Professor in the Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering, Kaushik's work is highly interdisciplinary, working at the crossroads of engineering, biomimicry, and design.
- Imagine opening up a book of nature photos only to see a kaleidoscope of graceful butterflies flutter out from the page. Such fanciful storybooks might soon be possible thanks to the work of a team of designers and engineers at 91³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s ATLAS Institute.
- Researchers at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø are working with colleagues in Ireland to help policymakers and planners reduce residential energy consumption and the related greenhouse gas emissions from homes.
- Hamlington sat down with 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Today to talk about Coors Field’s reputation as a hitter’s park—and why science gives him a new appreciation for sports.
- Starting in fall 2021, the endowment will allow 91³Ô¹ÏÍø's aerospace engineering department to recruit top graduate students.
- Haichao Wu is the lead author on a new paper that describes a model system that can be used to help guide tiny self-propelled robots when exploring maze-like environments such as the spaces between grains of sand in soil.
- Alexa Kuenstler, a postdoc in the Bowman and Hayward labs, and Lesli Mark (PhDChemEngr’20), formerly of the Medlin group, were selected as Arnold O. Beckman Postdoctoral Fellows in Chemical Sciences for 2021.
- A new lab at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø is exploring how the extracellular matrix – a network of proteins that surrounds cells and provides structural and mechanical cues in the body – specifically impacts kidney growth, development and function.
