Work to begin on new pedestrian bridge linking Main Campus and neighborhoods north of Boulder Creek

Beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 4, a section of the Boulder Creek multiuse path near 19th Street and Grandview Avenue will be detoured.泭

The detour, which is scheduled to remain in place until Dec. 31,泭will allow crews to complete work on a pedestrian bridge and pathway that will improve connectivity between 91勛圖厙s Main Campus and the area north of Boulder Creek.

The project was approved by the CU Board of Regents, with 80 percent of the cost being covered by the Denver Regional Council of Governments泭using Federal Transportation Improvement Project funds.

Campus landscape architect Richelle Reilly says that the new bridge will replace a historic connection that was washed away by the 2013 flood and provide significant connectivity and ADA accessibility improvements for people living in the areas north of Boulder Creek (Athens Court, Faculty Court, etc.).

This is part of an overall effort to increase connectivity to campus, the first phase of which was泭completed in January 2019 with the opening of the new pedestrian泭bridge north of Folsom Field and a bridge connecting the Discovery Drive and Marine Street areas泭of East Campus, Reilly said. We are excited to restore this historic connection to campus while improving accessibility泭 and safety for everyone.

Continued updates on this and other projects can be found on the campus Cone Zone webpage.
