University launches national search for new chief financial officer

A national search for the universitys next vice chancellor and chief financial officer is underway, with the goal of identifying a final candidate by September.

Ann Schmiesing, executive vice provost for academic resource management, is chairing the CFO search committee, whose membership includes representation from shared governance, administrative support units and school/college leadership.泭

The CFO plays the central role in shaping the campuss fiscal resilience and ensuring that its financial resources are aligned with the universitys mission and strategic priorities, said COO Patrick ORourke, to whom the CFO reports.

We are a Research One university, and proceeding with a national search for a CFO helps us to cast a wide net for qualified candidates, ORourke said. We are seeking a candidate whose experience and expertise can best support our missions of promoting student success, advancing discovery, inquiry and the public impact of scholarship, and carrying out this work with commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.泭

Vice Chancellor and CFO Carla Hoa announced her retirement in early February after more than 30 years of service to CU, and her retirement will be effective in November. Starting the search this spring will enable her to have sufficient time to transition these critical responsibilities to her successor.
